Pepe Belmonte is a folk-blues guitar player and singer song-writer. He grew up in Co. Cork on the West coast of Ireland. His musical influence meanders through Irish, Malian and Hawaiian folk to the pre-war blues of Chicago along The Delta and down through the lyrical landscape of Dylan, Mitchell and Young. Mississippi John Hurt meets JJ Cale meets Nick Drake. Music from his as yet un-officially released album ''The Hermit''s Waltz'' make up the soundtrack to the independent feature film, '' The Hour of Living'' in which Pepe also appears as ''The Singer''.
The album was set for release in the Summer of 2011 alongside a solo UK tour of Independent Record Stores. However a serious bicycle crash in March 2011 has meant that Pepe has only been able to perform live sporadically over the last few years. Shows have included appearences at Wilderness, Secret Garden and Somersault Festivals and support at Portsmouth''s Guildhall and The Royal Albert Hall. His rehabilitation is ongoing.
A book of poems and pictures will soon be published and his debut album ''The Hermit''s Waltz'' is available at the usual online stores and the remaining hard copies are only available at gigs.
With nostalgic and contemporary tones you will be transported to 70s deep swamp America, the Irish countryside and the streets of London on a wave of rock, folk and blues.

"...one that I keep on returning to...His music is described as blues-folk. But it’s much more than that. He paints word pictures and explores characters that you want to hear about..." ~ Alan Cackett, Maverick Magazine
"Pepe''s performance is one of utter sincerity. He''s bringing us our modern day blues, with music that speaks right to peoples hearts, lyrics summoning imagery into the minds of the audience, as whole and honest as any Dylan or Waits tune. Pepe is a gifted, engaging performer whose music is gritty and soft in all the right places, the kind of music that warms your soul." ~ ONETASTE
